65 Silver Street in Sheffield MA is now home to Big Elm Brewing. Previously it had housed a plastic compression molding company. We spent many days cleaning up the inch plus of plastic dust on every surface. We opened boarded up windows for some natural light and gave new life to a tool storage space as a tasting room. It actually wasn’t this simple, but there is not enough space here for the details. It was a mess, with good bones, and we fixed it up pretty good. Come down for a tour/tasting and we will share our photo album.
After finding this location in January 2012, we proudly ordered our American made 15 barrel (465gallon) brewhouse, which showed up in early September 2012 (more than a few months late, so we had some time to prepare for it’s arrival). Throw in a couple of tanks and we debuted our first batches in early October at Berktoberfest in Pittsfield MA and we haven’t had time, or a need, to look back since!
